The Berliner Ensemble, one of Germany's most renowned theatres, has created an important component of its digital transformation with an Augmented Reality walk.

It provides new target groups with individualised access to content and background information that was previously not available to visitors.

As an app for Android and iPhone, users are offered a virtual tour of three-dimensional spaces with exciting insights narrated by actress Katharina Thalbach.

Storytelling

Summarising the history of the Berliner Ensemble in five worlds of experience, each with its own individual technological compositions: image collages, animations and virtual rooms supplemented with audio elements tell entertaining and informative stories which can be experienced interactively. On site, Google's new ARCore Geospatial API gives users the additional opportunity to see the stories in their actual context and experience them in the real place.

The 3D scan of the hall serves as a time portal, inviting users to embark on a journey through its rich and vibrant history.
